Flat Forms

Flat Forms include a wide range of shapes that are manufactured from flat strip material.

They are, typically, used for storing, and then releasing, energy when subjected to cyclic external loading. The applied load can be light to heavy in a relatively small space and can be designed to apply loads at multiple points.

In many cases where the flat form is a complex shape, only a portion may be functioning as a spring.

PCS can produce small quantity runs in our Short Order department and large runs using our 4-slide machines. Alloys used range from carbon alloy steels (1075/1095 spring steel) through 300 series stainless steel, Inconel and titanium alloys. Maximum thickness for flat forms ranges from 0.052" to 0.125" depending on the alloy.

Examples of flat forms include aircraft window clips, rod holders, and telecommunication equipment applications.
